Lesson 16: Stabilizing Your Putting Stroke
Practice Site: Home or practice green
Instructions by: Kellie Stenzel
So, you now have a solid setup. Next step is to stabilize your stroke. Distance and direction are hard to control when there’s excessive body motion. This is where professional and recreational golfers differ. How to fix it? When practicing, do more of an Arnold Palmer – turn your toes in as much as it can possibly get in at address. When you get a stance like this, you lock your knees and hips automatically, helping you eliminate unnecessary motion on your lower body when you strike. Do this during practice as well as out on the course and you’ll soon be rolling the ball smoother than your usual.
